Division of Energy Technologies and Systems
Head of Division - dr. inż. Rafał Laskowski, prof uczelni
Division of Energy Technologies and Systems is a unit of the Institute of Heat Engineering at Warsaw University of Technology. The Division’s research and teaching activities focus on power and energy engineering, in particular on the following areas:
- Mathematical modelling of energy machinery, equipment and energy systems, such as steam and gas turbines, heat exchangers, steam boilers, steam generators, cogeneration systems, district heating systems, as well as thermal and energy storage systems,
- Technical, economic and environmental analyses of energy systems and installations,
- Assessment of performance, diagnostics, optimisation and modernisation of energy machinery, equipment and installations,
- New technologies in the energy sector, including renewable energy sources (RES), bioenergy, waste-to-energy technologies, environmental protection technologies, as well as energy recovery and energy storage technologies (e.g. LAES, CAES),
- Issues related to nuclear power engineering, in particular the physics of nuclear reactors, modeling of thermal and flow processes in nuclear reactors, modelling of nuclear power plant systems, as well as safety aspects, environmental protection and management of radioactive waste,
- Analysis and modelling of thermal–fluid systems and energy systems using software such as ANSYS Fluent/CFX, Ebsilon, GateCycle, Aspen HYSYS, as well as in-house computational codes.
